With the rapid development of the economy of China,the travel mode of urban residents has been changed.While although China's huge urban population contributes to a larger pedestrian traffic, a lot of urban pedestrian systems are not perfect enough to solve the contradiction between the pedestrian and vehicle traffic. In this context, it is asked to make the pedestrian traffic coordination with other modes of transport and improve the efficiency of the overall traffic under the premise of pedestrian safety,by the method of optimizing signal control.Firstly,the geometrical conditions and the existing control method of the survey site are analzyed in this paper.The characteristics of pedestrians traffic and vehicles traffic are also analyzed combined with the acrual survey.And calculation method of motor vehicle and pedestrian traffic delay is discussed in this paper.Secondly, the paper presents several common methods of controlling the pedestrians crossing the streets, e.x. single point control, pedestrian request control, self-adopted control,coordinated control, and second crossing control etc, including parameters of all control methods.Thirdly, in the chapter of the optimizing methodology empirical study, the principles of the control usage are explored, which is surrounded by the brief calculation of the single point control and second crossing control.Control method and signal parameters are analyzed with these two method on the basis of the actual situation of survey site.At last,the vehicle and pedestrians crossing delay is analyzed on the basis of control method optimizing.In addition,in the paper we made a compare between optimized signal control method and status method, and validated the rationality.
