Method And Case Study On Signal Setting Of Pedestrian Crossing In Road Sections

With the rapid development of the society and economy of China, motor vehicle population increase rapidly. The travel mode has been changed greatly and the contradiction of rapid and slow traffic system has become more obvious. So the layout method of signal setting of pedestrian crossing in road sections has been the focus of the society.Firstly, the characteristics of pedestrians crossing is analyzing in detail on three parts of behavior characteristics demand characteristics and traffic flow characteristics. The characteristics which include waiting time, space, walking, the relation of walking speed and traffic volume and the relation of walking speed and traffic density are further researched.Secondly, the minimum time and traffic capacity of pedestrians crossing are analyzed for the base of installation condition of pedestrian crossing signal in road sections. And the related indexes which include demand, vehicle flow volume, road condition, convenience, safety, application condition of request control mode and so on are confirmed.Thirdly, the installation principium of signal setting of pedestrian crossing in road sections is analyzed. The control method of no signal control, timing control, pedestrians request control, inductive control and coordinated traffic signal control are analyzed to confirm setting separation distance of pedestrian crossing signal in road sections. Then the setting method of pedestrian crossing signal in road sections and safe transition time of single point control, pedestrians'second crossing control and coordinated traffic signal control are researched.At last, the signal setting of pedestrian crossing in road section of Road Jiefang and Square Baoli in Wuxi of Province Jiangsu is taken as study object to verify the science and practicality of layout method.
