Influence Of Aesthetic Thoughts In Neo-Confucianism In Song Dynasty On Contemporary Teahouse Space Design

Aesthetic thoughts in Neo-Confucianism in Song Dynasty are the most outstanding part in Song Dynasty aesthetic theory.It adds lusters to Song Dynasty aesthetic thoughts and is a thought school with unique charms and distinct characteristics in Chinese traditional aesthetic thought history.The cultural connotation of Neo-Confucianism in the special social background and its life attitude has had profound influences on every artistic and cultural field in China.There are numerous researches in Neo-Confucianism,poetry,calligraphy,painting,landscape architecture constitution,architectural design,philosophy,aesthetic taste and so on.Neo-Confucianism is the product that integrates Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism.It combines “neutralization” and “atmosphere” in Confucianism with “silence” and “forgetting” in Taoism and blends them;finally,it pushes them to “will”,“nature”,“doctrine” and “reason” and adds some deep meditation.The author believes that researches about Neo-Confucianism should not be restricted to Aesthetic theories and age causes and it is worthy of discussion whether Confucian aesthetic contemporaneity could be applied in contemporary social background and how to build the bridge between Neo-Confucianism and newly-developing artistic design disciplines to make ancient aesthetic ideas prosper in modern times.Therefore,the author tries to explore the integrating point between Neo-Confucian aesthetics and the author’s major of Environmental Art Design to apply the aesthetic ideologies of Neo-Confucianists to interior design——taking teahouse space design as an example,combine traditional culture with modern artistic design and discuss more originality and possibility in Chinese interior design fields.This paper starts from the perspectives of Neo-Confucian Aesthetics and design,discusses the practical influences of Neo-Confucian Aesthetics in design philosophy,cultural spirits and aesthetic tastes by the specific object of contemporary teahouse space design and explains the relevance between Neo-Confucian Aesthetics and design works.This thesis is divided into 6 chapters.Chapter one explains the basis and reasons of this project,research objective,research significance,overall research ideology and research methods.Chapter two starts from relative concepts of Neo-Confucian Aesthetics and concludes relative theoretical knowledge involved in the project.Chapter three discusses specific expressions of aesthetic thoughts in Neo-Confucianism,thereby cleaning the train of thought for the following research and finding an entry point.Chapter four combines the design cases of some specific teahouse space design,summarizes the expression techniques of Neo-Confucian Aesthetics in teahouse space and further brings in chapter five,the specific influences of aesthetic thoughts in Neo-Confucianism onteahouse space design.Chapter six summarizes this project research,including some reflections on Chinese contemporary artistic design during the research process of Neo-Confucian Aesthetics;finally,it points out the disadvantages of this research,providing references and suggestions to following researches.
