Traditional leaf-spring suspension for commercial vehicles both ride comfort,comfort or safety performance is poor.Due to its large unsprung weight,it is unable to adapt to the development trend of automotive lightweighting.Although traditional forms of suspension structure are simple,but the body height changes significantly whether it is unloaded or loaded.And it cannot be achieved on the road suspension damping,stiffness and ride height adjustable.To target a minivan model,in accordance with its basic design requirements,a mathematical model is established.Also we have designed the damping,stiffness and height adjustable hydro-pneumatic suspension.It is built in the AMESim simulation model and the features adjustable simulation test is conducted.Finally,on unloaded and loaded conditions,simulation study on ride comfort between traditional minivan mechanical suspension and hydro-pneumatic suspension were compared.In order to develop commercial vehicle of height damping stiffness adjustable hydro-pneumatic suspension,we do the followings:(1)Describe its structure,classification and working principle,and its advantages and disadvantages.(2)To target minivan model for its functional design,realizing its adjustable functions.We establish mathematical model of adjustable hydro-pneumatic suspension,including air pressure accumulator and oil selection.Combining with the parameters of the minivan,we have established a mathematical model and calculated 1/4 main parameters of hydro-pneumatic suspension.(3)Using AMESim software for modeling of 1/4 vehicles hydro-pneumatic suspension and damping,stiffness and height adjustable feature were simulated,achieving three kinds ofsimulation analysis of adjustable hydro-pneumatic suspension parameters.(4)1/4 suspension of vehicle ride comfort was evaluated.We have set a B-class road waveform in the AMESim and did a simulation between mechanical suspension and hydro-pneumatic suspension including the vehicle acceleration,suspension travel and dynamic wheel load.Finally compare the root mean square value of the three parameters,in the no-load condition,the hydro-pneumatic suspension is reduced by 26.2%,22.8% and24.1% respectively,and the hydro-pneumatic suspension is reduced by 17.4%,32.7% and35.5% respectively under full load condition.These mean that hydro-pneumatic suspension improves the ride comfort.Hydro-pneumatic suspension not only achieves the goal of stiffness damping and height adjustable but also has advantages over traditional mechanical suspension on ride comfort.
