The characteristics of suspension determine the ride characteristic of vehicles.Hydro–pneumaticsu spension system which used Hydro-pneumatic spring and horizontal stabilizer bar for key components combines hydrostatic transmission with vibration attenuation well.Because of the good nonlinear stiffness and damping characteristics, so that it is suitable for the suspension type of mine engineering truck,tanks, military transport vehicles, and off-road vehicles.Mining dump truck which always work in mine field or work site, its work condition is very bad, and it has big load. Becausre of the big road bump, the ride comfort, the service life of the vehicle was reduced. What’s more, the dirver easy to feel tired when work in this envirenment. The Hydro-pneumatic suspension system can greatly improve the vehicle ride comfort and the driver’s comfort,reduce the road bump.This paper is based on enterprise cooperation project, a single chamber hydro-pneumatic suspension was put forward to apply to a certain three axis mining dump. Depth study was made for this suspension system.Basic structure and operating principle of hydro-pneumatic suspension system were analyzed. Dimension of operating cylinder was determined, the hydraulic oil and pistion sealing components were described. The time domain model of D road and the ten DOF model of the whole vehicle was established. Set up a complex nonlinear mathematic model of Hydro-pneumatic spring on the basis of comprehensive analysis of its working principle and structure, then analyze the external characteristic of Hydro-pneumatic spring by computer simulation. Depth study was made of the stiffness property and damping capacity of the Hydro-pneumatic spring, as well as the the main structural parameter which iMPact them were studied. The Accuracy of the mathematic model was demonstrated by bench test.The Angle stiffness and the working stress of the horizontal stabilizer bar wasstudied. A preliminary exploration was made for the design method of the horizontal stabilizer bar. The influence of the structural parameters of the horizontal stabilizer bar to the roll stiffness of the vehicle was studied by simulition of ADAMS/Car.Co MPared and analyzed the performance in the vertical acceleration of the seat,dynamic load of the wheel, dynamic deflection of the suspension between the original vehicle and the Hydro-pneumatic suspension vehicle during the pulse road and the Random road.The result indicates that, after the use of Hydro-pneumatic suspension, the vertical acceleration of the seat was reduce 30%, the dynamic load of the wheel was reduce 27.8%, the dynamic deflection of the suspension was almost the same.Moreover, the attenuation of the road bump was greatly improved. So we went a conclusion that the Hydro-pneumatic suspension could improve the ride comfort obviously.
