With the pace of residential construction continues to accelerate, shortage of land, water and other waste issues arising, residential garage roof landscape engineering and urban stormwater management mode gradually come into our field of vision. Driven by the concept of "Create a sponge city", rainwater utilization landscape has achieved successful practices in many projects. Waterscape, as a landscape design element to enhance the quality of life of residential areas, improve the living environment of people, has always been popular. Researchers and designers are more concerned about how to create a natural and ecological residential water environment in the space of garage roof. Therefore, the waterscape project on the garage roof has become the trend of residential landscape design.With the combination of related theories from both domestic and abroad and case studies on residential areas, and the discussion on characteristics of residential garage roof which is based on Waterscape Design of rainwater utilization mode, the idea of "Green" Waterscape design system was raised. We Start from Waterscape system design and Waterscape detailed design respectively, then carry out in-depth study, and put forward relevant design principles and methods. Finally, we demonstrate its feasibility from project examples. The main research contents are as follows:The summary of landscape practice cases about water utilization and circulation theory from both domestic and abroad, and the rainwater collecting and reusing provide a theoretical basis and experience reference for further research.(1) Restricted by natural environment of the site, human factors, based on the principles of security, ecology, economy, the "green" Waterscape system design mode is raised. Form an overall conception from the way water being used, the method rainwater being purified and the water storage container. And use many various solutions of landscape engineering for rainwater collection, like shallow ditch, sunken garden, rainwater channel, ecological dry creek, green roof, underground blind ditch, etc. And there are two mainly methods of purification, plant filtration and engineering filtration. In the end, the rainwater by treatment was drained to a water storage container (landscape water).(2) Put forward the detailed design methods and steps of "green" water features, by following the layout of the building combined with methods of rainwater collection to determine the layout and form of waterscape; maximum water depth calculated by design loads of garage roof; reasonable water area calculated by the water balance analysis; maximum water storage capacity directly depended by total amount of collected rainwater; and negative correlation between water depth and area in certain water storage capacity.I hope that this paper will provide a new research direction for residential waterscape design field, and also provide a certain reference value for waterscape design of residential garage roof that is based on rainwater utilization mode.
