Waterscape is the most attractive landscape. In recent years, the continuous developmentof urbanization and large-scale development of commercial real estate are prompting artificialwaterscape design to become slowly one of the indispensable elements in residentiallandscape design. People look waterscape shape, quality of materials and landscape effect asseveral important metrics to measure the grade and environment of a residential areas.However, there are many problems in the construction and protection of artificial waterscapein the residential areas. A lot of waterscapes didn’t meet people’s require of ecologicalfunctions and landscape effects, and many waterscapes became abandoned landscapes,rubbish areas and the mosquito breeding sources. Base on the examples investigation ofdozens of waterscapes design, and through three directions which include water’s origin andprotection and post-maintenance, this article analyzes the deep-seated reasons of thoseproblems appear during the construction of article waterscapes. Moreover, this article selectsseveral successful cases to research and learn lessons from the selection of water’s origin,construction technology, plant configuration, geographical features and other aspects; proposethe construction features of natural artificial waterscape in habitable area, take the designroad of conservation and sustainable development, which are reflected in the use of rainwateras water’s origin and natural development of post-maintenance which without humaninterference. The purpose are to make social benefit, artistic benefit and ecological benefitcombine perfectly in waterscape design in residential area, reflect the deeper value of thenatural artificial waterscape in residential area, and provide some experiences of design andengineer technology to the design of the natural artificial waterscape.
