China is not only the world's largest producer of bamboo but also has abundance bamboo resources.In ancient times,bamboo was important to all aspects of people's living.In modern society,with the emergence of new material and structure technology,bamboo was becoming less commonly used as a kind of architectural material in architectural practices by architects and was considered as an architectural material especially for poor people in a long period.With the high speed development of society and economy,the demand for building construction has increased rapidly,ordinary non-renewable architectural materials such as cement and steel caused serious pollution to the environment.In the context of sustainable development,bamboo as a renewable architectural material with excellent mechanical properties has come into the vision of architects and is playing a more important role in today'sarchitecture practice.Architects focus on the ontology-design theory,modern architecture is not only closely related to the abstract space-formation theories,but also crucial linked to the concrete structure and construction.This paper took original bamboo as research object,concluded recent years'bamboo architecture practices via analysis of bamboo's characteristics and material tectonics.The paper studied the key techniques of bamboo construction and bamboo tectonics' performance,also discussed the feasibility and prospects of bamboo architecture in order to promote the development and innovation of bamboo architect theory.This thesis is divided into six parts:The first chapter stated the research background,illustrated the purpose,objects and content of the research,defined the frame of the thesis and offered feasible research method that based on the former research of domestic and abroad.The second chapter analyzed the advantages and main constrains of the development of bamboo architecture.In the third chapter,the writer profiled bamboo's mechanical properties with diagrams and provided several bamboo Structure Systems.The fourth chapter mainly discussed the joint connection techniques which are used to conjoin bamboo with wood,metal,concrete and itself.The chapter also gave a serious of proposal to solve the architectural application barriers of bamboo and the applicability of each joint.In the fifth chapter,the writer illustrated the architectural performance of bamboo's surface,junction and structure.The sixth chapter analyzed the feasibility and prospect of bamboo architecture,and concluded the whole paper's points in the end.Through this study we found that bamboo has excellent mechanical properties,proved that bamboo's overall architectural performance exceeds wood in some aspect,and make sure that bamboo can be used as a kind architecture material.There are already great demonstrates of bamboo architecture.The key techniques of bamboo joint construction are already matured with its recent years' development.Bamboo has its unique advantages as a kind architectural material and Bamboo tectonics is a phenomenon of architecture theory's essence-return tendency.
