Traffic separation scheme is one of the most common and the most widely used ship routeing measure.So far,more than 160 traffic separation schemes have been adopted by International Maritime Organization(IMO).As an advanced maritime management concept,traffic separation scheme has important significance for optimizing the traffic flow of ships and ensuring the safety of navigation.Therefore,traffic separation scheme is widely applied in waters where there is a high incidence of accident and where ship traffic flow converges.The thesis has carried on detailed statistics about traffic separation schemes adopted by IMO,the specific contents of the statistics include the following:established water's nature,jurisdiction country,offshore distance,channel length,channel width,traffic separation zone width,separation zone shape,turning angle and the combination usage of traffic separation scheme with other ship routeing measures.Based on the different characteristics of established water's nature,this thesis divided established waters into Island and Reef waters,Promonotory waters,Narrow channels,Coastal waters and Open waters.Then the thesis compared and analyzed the design elements of the traffic separation schemes in detail and obtained the design regularity of traffic separation schemes in different waters.On this basis,the cluster analysis method was used to reclassify the traffic separation scheme,which could overcome the limitations of classification by water nature and thus gained more scientific category.Then,this thesis took In The East Lamma And Tathong Channels traffic separation scheme and other traffic separation schemes as examples,followed by demonstration on how to use Fisher Discriminant Method to determine the new traffic separation scheme's category.The Correlation Coefficient Method and Angle Cosine Method were used to calculate the similarity between the new traffic separation scheme and the category which it belongs to,so as to provide reasonable suggestions for the establishment of traffic separation schemes.Finally,Chengshan Jiao Promontory Traffic Separation System was taken as an instance,analyzed how to use the research content save traffic separation systems' design time and improve design accuracy.The study on the design regularity of traffic separation schemes,which is based on Cluster Analysis and FISHER Discriminant Method,has certain reference significance for setting up and amending traffic separation schemes.
