In order to investigate the tribological properties of radial spherical plain bearings under grease lubrication,low speed and overload conditions,we firstly designed 3 types of surface textures on the inner surface of the outer ring based on laser surface modeling technology,i.e.grooved,random dimpled and regular dimpled microstructures.Tribological tests were conducted on PWNS-200 electro-hydraulic servo tribological test machine under the lubrication of molybdenum disulfide lithium-based grease,different loads and sliding speeds.The effect of texturing shape,depth and area density on tribological properties of radial spherical plain bearings was discussed.The surfaces of specimens were characterized by surface topography parameters.So the relationship between the characterization parameters and the friction coefficient was obtained.The model of spherical plain bearings was established by finite element software ANSYS on the basis of experimental study.The effects of different quantities and sizes of oil groove on stress,strain and other characteristics of radial spherical plain bearings under rated static load were studied.We proposed an optimization scheme for oil groove parameters,combined with the actual working conditions under grease lubrication.The results show that the working conditions and texturing parameters including load,sliding speed,texturing shape,depth and area density can affect the friction coefficient of the textured surface under grease lubrication.The appropriate micro-texture can reduce the friction coefficient and improve the tribological properties of the bearing.The random square micro-texture surface which has the area density of 5% and the depth of 15?m has the best tribological properties.The height parameters,function parameters and feature parameters have a more good characterization effect while hybrid parameters and space parameters have no obvious effect on tribological properties.We find the optimal oil groove parameters which have the number of one,the width of 3.5mm,the depth of 1.5mm,opend on the outer surface of the inner ring of GE45 ES radial spherical plain bearings under grease lubrication conditions.This study can be used as reference for the texture design,surface characterization and oil groove design of the radial spherical plain bearings.
