Bacteria,fungus and other microbes will contaminate on indoor air quality,human health and have great harm for building envelope.As well indoor humidity will affect building structure safe and human comfort.There is a most efficiency way to solve these two problems is to brush functional architectural coatings.Therefore,antibacterial,fungus proof and humidity controling should be considered together during develop coating materials.Nano ZnO owns good antibacterial and fungus proof performances with safety and low cost,as well it has good compatibility with water coating.This study aims to develop a new kind of functional coating which has good antibacterial,fungus proof and humidity controlling performances with comprehensive building performance.First of all,nano Zn O was prepared by synthesis method,three kinds of coupling agent was used to make surface modification in order to choose the best type and additive amount.Then use FTIR and TEM to characterize the chemical structure and dispersion of nano powder.Meanwhile,the styrene acrylic emulsion was modified by coupling agent,too.FTIR and SEM were used to characterize the modification effect.Secondly,antimicrobial with humidity controlling coatings added ZnO were prepared based on the raw materials above.Settleability,viscosity,fineness,adhesion,covering power and water resistance of the coating were tested.Antibacterial and fungus proof performances were also detected and analyzed in this study.The results showed that KH570 possesses best effecacy of modifing nano ZnO,and the optimum additive amount is 5%.Coupling agent was successfully grafted onto ZnO's surface,and reduced agglomeration with improving dispersion effect of nano Zn O in the Styrene acrylic emulsion greatly.The settleability results showed that the coating added KH570-Zn O owns good stability.When the additive amout of nano ZnO is aroud 3%,the coating showed best comprehensive building performances.For example,the adhesion property reached 1 grade,the fineness and the viscosity were relatively small,and it was also achived strong covering power and water resistance.The coating also showed good antibacterial and fungus proof performance.The inhibition rate for Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli were 97.5% and 93.2% respectively,and the property of anti Aspergillus reached ?grade.
