In this paper, the development of technology on inorganic antibacterial and architectural coatings and the application actuality of inorganic antibacterial to architectural coatings were briefly reviewed. The preparation process and performance of the inorganic antibacterial synthesized with wet method by using phosphoric acid, calcium hydroxide and sliver nitrate as main reagents, and the results of preparing inorganic antibacterial architectural coatings by using it as additive were introduced in detail. The inorganic antibacterial architectural coatings is a kind of environmental protective architectural coatings, in which water glass is regarded as film former. The research on the coatings has a certain extent theory meaning and good application foreground. In the process of synthesizing inorganic antibacterial, firstly, the effect of the preparation process conditions on Ca/P mole ratio and the property of ion exchange were studied. Secondly, the stability of the antibacterial was investigated and the influence factors of the dissolving property and the release velocity of silver ions were discussed. Finally, the antibacterial property and mechanism of the inorganic antibacterial were slightly home investigated. The final products were characterized by SEM, XRD, FTIR, EDS, DSC-TG. The process parameters of the reaction time, the value of pH, the sintering temperature of preparing the inorganic antibacterial were determined. It is found that the inorganic antibacterial containing sliver 3.3wt%, in which calcium phosphate is regarded as the carrier, can be ascertained when controlled Ca/P mole ratio of reagents of 1.5:1, pH of 6 to 8, ion exchange time of 7 hours and the sintering temperature at 800℃. Furthermore, the antimicrobial property of the antibacterial was qualitatively studied. The research results are as follows. The antibacterial effect on Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus albus and Bacillus subtilis is obvious, and the average breadth-diameter ratio of the antibacterial loop is more than 0.3 when the concentration of the antibacterial is 3.3wt%. It shows that the antibacterial has better broad-spectrum antibacterial property. In the process of researching inorganic antibacterial architectural coatings, the effect of the selection of pigments and fillings, the ratio of pigments to film former on coatings property was analyzed. The effect of the modification of water glass and curing agent on the water-resistance properties of inorganic coatings was investigated.Promoting the wash-resistance performance by inorganic fibre was discussed. The antibacterial property of the coatings was lastly studied. The study results are: the inorganic architectural coatings with better properties can be obtained, of which the water-resistance and alkali-resistance properties are greatly increased by the meanings of selecting appropriate pigments and fillings, controlling the pigment-film former weight ratio of 0.96, modifying water glass and solidifying by using curing agent; The wash-resistance property is increased from 1200 times to 8000 times when 2wt% inorganic fibre is added to the coatings; The coatings shows better antibacterial properties and effect on Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus albus, Bacillus subtilis and mildew when 2wt% inorganic antibacterial containing 3.3wt% silver is added to the coatings; The above results indicate that the coatings has better broad-spectrum antibacterial performance to Gram-negative bacterium, Gram-positive bacterium and mildew, and can satisfy antibacterial requirements on different occasions.
