With the urban population and size rapidly growing,travel demand of residents is increasing correspondingly.Urban traffic problems,especially traffic congestion,have increasingly become the bottleneck of urban development and influenced its healthy operation.Remarkably,the change in traffic supply and demand is the root cause of urban traffic problems.There are three levels which are macroscopic,microcosmic and middle level in the relationship of traffic supply and demand.The macroscopic level is aimed at match relation of traffic demand from urban land layout and traffic supply structure.The middle-level focuses on improving traffic supply and conducting traffic demand with the steady macroscopic quantity and structure.The microscopic level concerns on traffic control of intersections and links so as to maximize the resource utilization.The conventional traffic assignment model cannot availably describe the flow sources and distributions.This paper takes the road network as the research objects,based on different assignment methods and traffic characteristics of the road.The major contents of this research from the middle-level are as follows:Firstly,the meaning of traffic link utilization ratio,route utilization ratio are suggested based on the link flow diversity of the actual network.The source of road flow under the balanced relationship is built that is used to depict the flow composition.Then,the method of route choice,which excludes the irrational routes not matching actual behavior,is also put forward to describe the flow features of traffic assignment methods.Secondly,this paper considers the road network as the study goal to divide the coordinate distribution hierarchies and analyze the necessity of utilization ratio under traffic supply-demand state.The utilization ratio evaluation method from the perspective of structure and relevance is analyzed based on the road network’s links,routes,and areas.Subsequently,the utilization ratio characteristics of network are obtained with different traffic assignment methods.Finally,this paper analyzes the network applicability of the assignment methods.According to the features of utilization ratio,this paper redistributes the traffic flow based on the measures about traffic supply and demand orientation.Then,the utilization ratio’s difference is summarized with the change of traffic supply and demand that can provide theoretical support to improve network state.
