Design And Development Of Environment Friendly Waterborne Paints System For Military Shelters

As a high mobility,a high standard of military equipment,shelter had a large-scale adoption in our country military construction in recent years.Taking into account the serious environment of shelter using,the effectively surface protection of shelter is very necessary.Currently the application of solvent-based paints is common anti-corrosion method,but the solvent-based paints are damaging to the environment,toxicity and flammability.The waterborne paints due to environmental and safety,will become the focus of development direction in shelter manufacturing industry green upgrading.However,in order to the paints stable storage,the formulation contains more surfactant than solvent-based paints,and usually the surfactant is a hydrophilic,so the waterborne paints resistance to salt spray and other protective properties are often more decreased than solvent-based paints.This development of Military Shelter waterborne paints system were designed under the premise to ensure environment friendly,the anti-corrosion performance is another key focus.The project has designed and developed four waterborne paints,which are waterborne epoxy zinc-rich primer,waterborne epoxy intermediate paint,waterborne epoxy interior topcoat and waterborne acrylic topcoat.In accordance with the protection requirements of different priorities,we make shelter interior and exterior coating system for inside and outside the shelter by the composition of the waterborne paint.The development process is that firstly we developed four waterborne paints alone and each film properties were tested and confirmed in the respective to meet our own requirements set,then we do a series of tests as anti-salt-spraying,anti-weathering on the coating system matching by the developed waterborne paint.Since there is no shelter paints standard,we refer to the specification “ JH / E01-2008 Paints for Freight Containers ” by the China Container Industry Association.The test results showed that the environment friendly waterborne paints system has reached the standard requirement,it can provide effective corrosion protection for the shelter.
