Roof Garden Design In South Cities

With the lack of green land,public space and worse natural environment caused by urbanization,roof garden has been showing its great significance to the users,the building and the city.Nowadays the construction of Roof garden in China is still relatively small,and the corresponding technology,industry,market and public awareness are still waiting to be improved.South cities have good advance in climate,economy,technology and civilization to develop roof gardens.With new urbanization as an opportunity,the construction in the south will be put on a new level,and may lead to development of roof gardening in the whole country.The research starts from the concept,origin and development of the Roof garden.Based on the advantage and character of roof gardening in the south,the Roof garden is studied from the following aspects:Firstly,after learned development status inside and abroad and understanding basic concept,category and affecting elements of roof gardening,on the basis of reviewing the development course,summarizing the current policies and outstanding cases,the present situation and problems of the construction of Roof garden in China are analyzed as well as the reasons for the slow development in our country.Secondly,the research analyzes the spacial,ecological,technical and landscape characteristics of the southern region.Design method of roof garden plants,water,rocks,architectural sketches and component elements are analyzed,and three key characteristics and methods of the South City Roof garden design are put forward from the perspective of spatial organization,ecological design and landscape design.Thirdly,the application of the above concept is applied on Suzhou Yuanrong constellation Roof garden design.Based on background and functional aims,climate characters,ecology and landscape characters,design work are practiced to verify the theory.The main conclusion are as follows,southern areas in China have good climatic,historical and ecological qualifications.With the opportunity of city revive;we ought to promote development of southern roof gardening by means of regular laws,promote policies and public awareness.
