With the publish of new standard for size and weight of vehicle,the upper limit of weight for truck with double steering system has reduced from 40 T to 31 T.In order to improve the operating factor of weight and loading for truck,lightweight of this type o f truck need to be solved immediately.Therefore,Design based on the lightweight method for dump truck frame is necessary,and the reduction need to be upper than 8%.In this paper,frame of a heavy-duty dump truck were optimized for topology and lightweight design.By example of the frame for 8 ?4 truck,Topology and lightweight theory were used for guiding traditional design of frame.First,the structure of frame has been designed Combined with traditional design and topology optimization design methods,and relying on the stiffness of frame in the density model,the cross-beam can be arranged properly,and application of topology structure has been realized efficiently.Then,the frame has been designed and optimized for lightweight,the result can meet the design requirements for strength,stiffness and modal,and verify the practicality of topological methods from the theoretical level.Throughout the paper,the main conclusions are as follows:1)Combined with traditional design methods and topology optimization design methods,the preliminary design of the frame can be basically determined.Topology model of frame and load conditions largely determine the accuracy of the iteration time and the structure of the frame,you can get ideal results topology result when comprehensive loading conditions were defined early in the design level,which means the application of topology optimization instructions used for frame of dump truck in structural design is feasible.3)Dump truck has complex conditions,we need to establish different models by extracting its structure impact on working conditions so that stress analysis can be more close to the actual results.Preliminary design program does not meet requirements in the conditions of 30 degrees for lifting strength,which need to be re-optimized.Stiffness of the main frame has been calculated,this value does make sense when comparison with value in the same type of truck,which can be optimized to provide the basis for the post-contrast verification.4)the frame model has been optimized for lightweight,and the result can meet the requirements of strength,and the torsion stiffness is also slightly improved.The main frame model finally reduces 91.74 kg than the original program,which is lower over than 8.25% and achieves target of lightweight,this study demonstrates the value of content.The frame were manufactured and modal test has been done for sample,calculation mode were doing comparison with test mode results,which further validated the accuracy of the simulation analysis.In addition,the paper is based on the actual design project of truck,which further verifying its actual value from the theoretical level.
