The existing runoff management in China, characterized by rapid collection and fast discharge,is a kind of traditional mode, which thereby brings the risk of water logging and pollution. The low impact development(LID)mode, which has been successfully applied in the United States,Australia and some other developed countries, can reduce such risks. This paper devoted to the urban road stormwater drainage integration design method with functions of infiltration and discharge, which is one of the important measures for low impact development, and took two typical engineering cases as examples. The main research contents and results were as follows:1.This paper proposed the integration design method of road sections(single-,dual-,triple-and quadri-carriageway)for urban stormwater drainage system with functions of infiltration and discharge.2.This paper summarized the structural styles of ecological retention facilities commonly used in urban road stormwater system, including inflow collection and outflow discharge designs.3.With reference to relevant foreign design guidelines, adding to the combining of domestic design specifications and researches, this paper put forward one design method for bio-swales(grass swales and tree pools).4.This paper showed two in-situ urban stormwater drainage system cases applying the design methods above, one of which was baesd on the grass swales and located in Rd.Jinshanhu,Zhenjiang(Case 1),another based on tree pools and located in Rd.jiefangnan, zhengjiang(Case 2).5.This paper simulated the runoff control effect of the two cases using EPA SWMM5.0.Results showed that bio-swales(grass swale and tree pool)could reduce the runoff volumn and peak runoff rate by 78%,73%in Rd.Jinshanhu(Case 1),and 36.2%,44%in Rd.Jiefangnan(Case 2),under a 24-hour-rainfall with two-year-recurrence interval.
