Application Of Vegetation Color In Landscape Design Of Residential Districts In Urumqi

As the manifestation of beauty,urban color planning has been researched by human society long time ago.It gets increasing attention as planners began creating their own landscape color style for cities.However,the importance of the vegetation color is generally ignored as the they still focus on the color of the structures,which only takes about 30% of construction area.On the other hand,Urumqi is a city with four distinct seasons especially a cold winter,yielding limitations in planning.This paper is on a special research on the vegetation color in the residential districts of Urumqi to create a suitable living space.Firstly,it sums up the application of city residential vegetation color design principles and patterns,based on existing disciplines,concepts and the influencing factors.Secondly,it analyses data of plant species and community color collocation,based on methods including the field photo collection referring the Munsell Color System,from residential districts including the Urumqi Greentown Lily Apartment,the Greentown Jade Garden and the World Masterpiece.Finally,it summarizes the collocation method from excellect cases.The general pattern of urban vegetation color planning is as follow: take green as priority over yellow due to the climate and geometric factors of the city.The colors should fit the theme of the residential district and the environment thus the range should be limited.The overall pattern should also serve the function of the district.The combination of warmth of the color should also take the seasons into account since it also affects the growth of plants.The hue of colors should fulfill the need of variations.In order to improving the quality of residential space in the future effectively in urban vegetation color planner,the designers need to make use of variation of plants,the psychological effect of colors and fit the color with environments.
