Circlip,called closing ring or retaining ring,is one kind of fastener which is inserted in the axle grooves or holes of instruments and various machines.Circlips are critical elements employed in many fields,such as machinery and electronics industries.It has various types differs in shape and size according to different applications.As one kind of high precision industrial parts,automobile circlips need to be detected one by one.The inside diameter and inside opening are two significant parameters of it for it’s critial for tightness degree in addition to outside diameter and width.Currently,they are mainly inspected manually by skill inspectors.However,human inspection is always subjective,labor-intensive and slow.Moreover it doesn’t match with rapid machining and large quantity.In addition,with the demand for one to one assembly packaging,the artificial means will lead some personal error and is harmful for workers’ eyesight.Above all,an automatic detecting equipment is badly in need to overcome these problems.This project,called automobile circlips automatic detecting machine,is a school-enterprise cooperation with ShengYuan Circlip Co.Ltd.The main task of it is to develope an automatic machine which could inspect the significant parameters precisely.Although there are not any institutions trying to have some research in this field,we could take the previous successful precedents which has been applied in first-tier factory for reference.Aiming at promoting the engineering application of automatic automobile circlips detecting instrument,this paper mainly completed the following work:1.To develop the new type inspecting instrument for circlips.The main technology content contains: designing three automatic sorter for different specifications of circlips;every machine would cover dozens of circlips;conveying mechanism could make the disorer circlips well ordered;sorting mechanism would sort the parts for qualified or unqualified;finally,it could count and collect the qualified.2.Detecting system can be divided into three major parts: the feeder,inspecting system and sorting and counting unit.The feeding system is composed by storing feeder,circular feeder and linear feeder.They are in series with each other to complete a 3-level relay feeding system.The inspecting system is based on 2 dimension and digital image correlation method,and the sorting and counting unit which is mainly made up of a multi-station workbench is driven by pneumatic components.3.Due to the optimal design in mechanical struture and drive mode,it greatly lowered the complexity of the whole system.We adopted data acquisition card as the brige between the industrial computer and implement.We designed the interface driver circuit to solve the driving capacity.An electric control board is also put forward to offer a needed environment for a variety of electrical components.4.To assess the accuracy of the detecting system and its comprehensive parameter,we carried out lots of experiments.And then we analyzed some factors that may affect our measuring precision and efficiency.5.Some research was carried out about digital image acquisition system based on FPGA.It provides a very effective approach for subsequent sorters in that its simplification,cost-effective and well-embedding.An image acquisition system is presented to verify its feasibility in automobile circlips detector.And the key skills in it are introduced in detail.All of these laid a solid foundation for further research.
