Study On Three Different Space Operation Method Of Architecture In 20th Centry

Space is generally considered as the main problem in the history of architecture evolution.Clarifying the method of space operation is an essential study on architectural space.In view of the complexity and variety of space revealed in 20 th centry,this thesis takes a new method independent from traditional research aspects,such as style,genre and time.To efficiently obtain the space operation method,based on case studies this thesis sorts the important nodes in the development process by “class”,clarifies three typical architectural space statuses,and make a further study on each type.In consideration of how to efficiently obtain space operation method,this thesis summaries the important time nodes in space evolution process,studies the typical space characteristics and discusses the space operation methods.Firstly,referring to the artistic ideological trends,technological innovation,typical architectural masters and their works analysis this thesis sorts the important nodes in space development into three tendencies: box disassembly and fragmentation;structure frame and free plan;spatial height and inside-outside comparison.Secondly classify space status into three classes: fluxility,transparence and volume.Based on the analysis on the architects and the typical works which make important roles in space evolution at the beginning of 20 th centry,we clarify the characteristics of “fluxible space”,“transparent space” and “volume space”.Finally based on characteristics of three space statuses this thesis selects and studies the typical architectural works in different categories so as to abstract space operation methods.Focus on three typical architectural spaces in study process,sort space development history and at the same time clarify the space operation method.The purpose of these effort is not to sort space by “class” but to think about the development of architecture space itself so as to improve architecture science.
