With the popularity of vehicles in the modern society,parking difficulty,traffic jam,traffic accidents and a series of traffic-related problems occur frequently.As a result,traffic management,safe driving and traffic information exchange problems have attracted more and more attention.Vehicular Ad hoc Networks(VANETs)as an important part of intelligent transportation system are regarded as the key to solve or alleviate the existing traffic problems.However,VANETs is a double-edged sword for the existing intelligent transportation system,which not only afford us convenience,but also bring many challenges.Among these challenges,security and privacy are the key issues which can influence the development and the scale of VANETs.This paper focuses on the security authentication and privacy protection problem in VANETs.Based on the analysis of safety authentication technology and privacy protection technology in existing VANETs,this paper designs efficient solutions which suitable for VANETs environment and satisfies the security requirements.The prime contributions of the paper are as follows:1.This paper presents an efficient anonymous authentication protocol in VANETs,which alleviates the problem of system performance caused by high computation overhead and high communication overhead in existing ones.This paper proposes an efficient authentication scheme by combines with batch authentication and signature with message recovery.Different from existing solutions,our proposed protocol authenticates multiple signatures using batch operations.Therefore,our solution can remarkably reduce the total authentication time.Meanwhile the transmission overhead can also be considerably decreased due to the combination of signature and message.In the security analysis section,in addition to the analysis of common attack model resistance,such as impersonation attack,collusion attack.We also prove the unforgeability of our proposed protocol in the random oracle model.Through extensive analysis and simulations,we show that the proposed protocol outperforms existing ones in terms of communication and computation efficiency.2.Existing Mix-zone solutions in VANETs faces low flexibility problem and lack of privacy protection.In order to tackle the problem,a traffic-adaptive dynamic mixing-zone creation scheme is proposed to protect the location privacy of vehicle users in VANETs.In this paper,a new traffic adaptive metric is proposed to evaluate the Mix-zone,and this metric can be used to find the best Mix-zone.Based on this,a dynamic mixing-zone creation method is proposed based on the undirected connected graph of the road network.This method can dynamically create the Mix-zone for the vehicle anytime,anywhere.Finally,in the performance evaluation section,we use the real vehicle trajectory data set to evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme.We use the GPS data of taxi to generate the vehicle movement trajectory,and corresponds to the city road network.Experiments on real data sets shows the performance of this scheme in the system privacy protection.
