Emotional Build Of Exhibition Space Design Of The Massacre Memorial Hall

Massacre Memorial Hall is the type of the memorial in modern times,which displays the memorial subjects through the design of architectural space,the construction of surrounding and atmosphere and the display inside the exhibition hall to show memorial objects and its mainly function is to commemorate and warn the posterity not to forget history.emotional experience is a concept which is proposed in the middle of the last century.With the development of era,people’s experience is becoming more and more important in the architectural space evaluation.memorial hall bearing special mission,it pays more attention to the expression of emotional experience in the space.Nowadays,there exist such problems in most memorial halls that exhibiting form is single;narrating sequence goes plain and simple way or carries out single emotional construction,which causes the problem of incomplete memory of emotion.This paper analyzes the necessity of emotional construction in the display space design of memorial hall from such three aspects as visitors’ cognitive needs,inner needs of display space and the important role of emotional construction,and then analyzes he factors that make visitors mood swing in the space from four aspects as spatial form,spatial organization,human perceptual experience and connotation experience.The space form,deciding the character and content of the space directly,shall be divided into the normal and abnormal forms.Normal space form,for its stability and solemn experience,prone to encourage visitors to reside and meditate,is usually used in place for tranquil contemplation and meditation;The abnormal space is a high or narrow or long or conflicting spatial form constructed through those regular techniques such as anti-symmetry and inverse proportion etc.,in which cause visitors’ sense of stimulation,negative or miserable feeling,thereby manifests memorial halls’ special emotional peculiarity.Spatial organization design means to comprehensively arrange some of certain function divisions that have completely indispensable function,as a result that they can complement each other and commonly promote to accurately convey memorial emotion.Spatial emotion experience is divided into perceptual experience and connotative experience by the level of depth.Perceptual experience is mainly an outcome through combining four senses(sight,hearing,smell,touch)in multiple concrete spaces;The connotative experience contains a deeper level of spiritual experience which comes from visitors’ subjective reflection and judgment on the objects with certain social background and in different display division,and will be hinted by the regional culture and past cognitive memory during visit as well.Based on the theory and method above,the author redesigns the display space of Panjiayu Massacre Memorial Hall in Tangshan city of Hebei province,according to the design method of the two typical cases as Nanjing Massacre Memorial Hall and Berlin Jewish Museum,hoping that visitors’ emotion would fluctuate with the different display objects through the space and emotional construction.Meanwhile,well arrange visiting route and order of display objects to let visitor feel spiritual consolation during visit and make the memorial hall more worthy of visiting.
