Abstract/Summary:
Mongolia is a vast, sparsely populated, landlocked country located between the People’s Republic of China(PRC)to the south, and the Russian Federation to the north.Due to the large area, low population density, and severe weather conditions during winter, surface transportation in Mongolia is difficult.Historically, rail transport has played an important role in Mongolia’s foreign trade and its overall economic progress.Rail transport carried 72% of Mongolian freight and 28% of passenger traffic in 2013.Due to cross-border trade with neighbor countries, the share of freight movement by rail in Mongolia is very high relative to other developing countries, where the majority of the freight traffic is transported by highways. The main railway line, specifically referred to as the Trans-Mongolian Railway, connects Zamiin-Uud on the PRC border with Sukhbaatar on the Russian border and passes through the capital city of Ulaanbaatar. This line is part of the trans-Siberian Railway Network which connects Ulan-Ude on the Trans-Siberian railway line in Russia. It is also part of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation corridor 4,which connects the Russian Federation to East Asia via Mongolia and the PRC.Current railway operation in Ulaanbaatar is highly inefficient.Implementation of this project will add another means of transportation to the beleaguered city and thereby help reduce the city’s traffic congestions. The use of alternative trains to be located outside the urban area of alternative rail lines(railway lines)to minimize the city center traffic congestion and dangerous goods leakage caused by public security threats and the existence of structural constraints on the railway line caused by the low operational efficiency and other issues.Using the method of theoretical analysis and mathematical modeling to calculate the freight speed and the carrying capacity of the new wagon under the specified freight volume and the number of delivery lines in the planned route. While evaluating the economic benefits of building a new project. The planned route along the Bogd Khan Mountain will be connected to the Bagakhangai station and the Rashaant station. It is expected that in the near future, the capacity of transport through Mongolia will be greatly increased and the development of private lines will ensure that the population of the city is not adversely affected by this increase. The railway line is expected to ease the traffic congestion by reducing delays at multiple intersections. It will also improve the country’s rail transport capacity. Most importantly,it will be used to relocate existing cargo infrastructure from the city, thereby releasing precious land for use in urban development in residential, sanitation and education centers.Bogd Khan Railway project is expected to open a new possibility to represent local train service as using the City through 35 km railway as public transport. So it will take only 15 minutes to travel from one side of the city to another. It’s significant not only to pass 15 station in such a short time but also to develop the parallel flow in public transport as resolving the traffic jam in the City. The existent railroad which is partly intersected to the city through railroad and road produce the heavy traffic jam.In other hand the smoke from the tracker plays a big role to the air pollution. The negative consequences of the old rail system includes fumes emanating from the locomotives, potential hazards caused by the chemically hazardous cargos and the loud noises produced all contribute to the violation of peaceful, healthy and safe environment of the capital residents.
