The sequential turbocharging technology could be used to improve the performance of diesel engine under low load, to reduce emissions and boost the power. As one of the key techniques for sequentially turbocharged system diesel engine, the sequential turbocharging electronic control system whose safety and reliability has a directly influence on the performance of the diesel engine. The control system should with the ability of rapid response,flexible and accurate. The efficiency for boost system should be enhanced by this control system in all operation conditions. Hence, it is of great importance to improve the reliability for the control system..This research object is the sequentially turbocharged system based on the TBD234V12 diesel engine with 4 boosters. The controller with function of fault tolerance and redundance for key components, is designed based on the MCU called MC9S12XEP100 from Freescale.This paper finished the design of fault tolerance and redundance for the sequential turbocharging control system, in the level of both software and hardware.The main contents are as follows:(1) Diesel speed and booster processing circuits are designed by the method of hot standby in hardware redundance. The driver circuits for the butterfly valves are designed via cold standby in hardware redundance. The design of acquisiton circuits of rack position and booster pressure are based on hot standby in hardware redundance and communication link redundance.As for the state detection of butterfly valves, detection of zero point of the rack number, buzzer driver, key input, LED instruction of butterfly valves status, fault LED of speed, pressure fault LED etc., the circuts are designed via general means.(2) Modular design for programming is introduced, by which the modifying and transplanting of the code become more convenient; In order to improve the real-time and operability for the control system proposed,the RTI is adopted to manage the tasks; The burden of main CPU is alleviated via using the co-processor called XGATE to measure and calculate the speed.(3) The simulate experiment(both software and hardware are included) results show that the control of fault tolerance and redundance for key components is achieved and other performance indexes, function and reliability reach the expectations.
