When the partially air cushion supported catamaran (PACSCAT)is sailing, the air flow of the cushion play an important role in the hydrodynamic performance of the PACSCAT.This paper is originated from this aimed at developing a control system to automatically adjust air flow of the air cushion to make the hull sail more steady and safe in the sea.The first part of this paper discussed the principle to choose the optimal air flow.There are many factors influence the ship performance,choose eight typical indicators from them,then select the main factor,namely,fuel consumption,then regard it as criterion and get the optimal air flow from level one to level three of the sea condition.The second part chooses the optimal method to spectrum inversion through simulating the sea waves and sampling the waves to invert the spectrum.Analyse the ship model test data,get the amplitude frequency response function,obtain the sea wave amplitude,judge the sea level.Apply four spectrum inversion methods to invert the simulated wave,and compare the result with the target spectrum to select the best method.Analyse the ship model test data and obtain the amplitude frequency response function in different sea conditions with interpolation,using the spectrum inversion method and correct the solved result in facing wave state,then judge the sea condition.Give the algorithm to judge the sea condition in the not facing wave state,show the direction for further work.The third part apply the control algrithm,focusing on the facing wave state,to develop the PACSCAT air cushion control system, give the selection of hardware and set up the system,including the sensor installation location,type selection ,the controller type selection and control procedures,at last make simple test of the control system.Throgh the three parts discussed above, study and explore the PACSCAT air cushion control system,then provide certain reference for the follow-up air cushion system developer.
