“Smart grid” as the direction of the development and construction,power system for monitoring the operating state of overhead line,in order to timely discover and eliminate line fault,10 kV overhead line is the most important part of distribution network,branch lines,wide coverage,patrol and repair cost a lot of manpower and material resources,as a result,rapid,accurate positioning point of failure is very necessary.With the continuous development of fault indicator application technology,GPRS or fault indicator with the use of EPON fiber in 10 kV overhead line will have a significant effect.At first,this paper expounds the application of 10 kV overhead line fault indicator system research background,significance and the status quo at home and abroad,including the general situation of the distribution network combining.Second,the system structure,working principle,detection principle and the classification and characteristic of fault indicator and so on are introduced.Then on the system used in communication devices and communication mode are expounded.Then on the application of the system design and implementation through specific case.Finally,being aimed at regional,thicker sand,snowy winter,patrol difficulties etc.,to determine the fault indicator and GPRS or EPON fiber combined with application of the scheme,shorten recovery time,improve the efficiency of troubleshooting,effectively improve the power supply reliability of 10 kV overhead line.
