Friction pendulum bearing(FPB)is a kind of wild use and promising isolation bearing,the FPB has a low sensitivity of the range of the frequency of ground motion excitation and high stability.There is a special function that the slide of concave surface can restore its own position,because its bearing capacity,high ability to resist torsion,strong durability,FPB is wild used by isolation bridges,some advanced country also apply FPB to structure engineering.Due to the lack of code and criterion,the use of FPB in our country is not as much as foreign country in structure area,this article is base on a pilot project of FPB in Kunming,a detailed study of the examination of the characters of FPB and the design of FPB was made.FPB is mainly made by steel,the friction between stainless steel and non metal material is the main way to dissipate energy,so the durability and the resistance of material is a critical factor of the FPB.According to many article relate to FPB,we can get a clear stander of the parameters in order to offer some references for the design of FPB.Besides,compared to the old material PTEE,this article use a new material called MTF to test the reliability of MTF.Because of the lack of criterion in our country,this article based on<EN15129>,<Isolation design manual>from AASHTOO and<GB/T 20688.1 Rubber bearings-Part 1:Seismic protection isolators test methods>and so on to get a method to examine the bearing,this method can get vertical stiffness,horizontal stiffness,initial shear stiffness,equivalent damping ratios,fast friction coefficient,slow friction coefficient and so on,these parameters can be used to design bearing and define the characters of bearing.Combined with plot project,we tested the properties of the bearing and get the parameters used in engineering.Supported by the plot project in Kunming,we made a analysis to its upper structure,using sap2000 to make a time-hhistory analysis of design earthquake,rare earthquake,super rare earthquake,through the analysis of calculate and primary design,compared to the roof acceleration,Inter-story Displacement Angle,story drift of the non-seismic structure,the result shows that the upper structure meet all demands by using PFB and still have safe margin when it meets super rare earthquake.In the mean time,this article also have the date of maximum shear force,axial force,horizontal displacement,vertical displacement,hysteric loop under different seismic events,these date show the horizontal and vertical displacement and the biggest surface pressure are small than the limitations,we can ensure the safety of the bearing while the vertical durability and horizontal displacement are get the maximum benefit.
