With the increasing lack of oil,natural gas and other energy,electric vehicles are replacing the fuel vehicles.At present the electric vehicle power is mainly used of lead-acid batteries.The electric vehicle is limited by the drawbacks of short life,low utilization rate of active substances.Through the research find that the impact of the service life of the lead-acid batteries is the low utilization of active material,one of the key to improve the lead-acid batteries is how to improve the performance of positive for the lead-acid battery manufacturers.The simplest is the most effective way to choose efficient additives.The chemical formula of the four alkaline lead sulfates(4BS)is 4PbO·PbSO4,it has advantage of close links between the grains.4BS as an intermediate form existing in the cathode is an effective way to avoid premature aging of lead-acid battery capacity.It can effectively improve the battery charge and discharge cycle life.The preparative technique of 4BS is the development of new technology in recent years,which has proven to be one of the most effective measures to prevent premature capacity loss of batteries.Therefore,the study of preparative technique of 4BS is great significance.In this paper the structure,electrochemical performance of tetrabasic lead sulfate(4BS)were elaborated.The principle of improving the cycle life was also discussed,especially some ways of preparation of the 4BS.The preparation contained solution method,Ball Mill,hydrothermal synthesis method,pyrolytic process and so on.The influence of curing parameter on 4BS structure was discussed.And the merit and demerit of the ways of preparation were analyzed.The purpose of this subject is to try different preparation methods to prepare 4BS in the laboratory.To find a quick and simple test method for preparation of 4BS and validate that it can achieve industrially produced 4BS.Then the production of 4BS as an additive is added to the positive lead paste in order to achieve the change of the lead-acid battery performance.The experiment demonstrates the best way to product 4BS:put the PbO and H2SO4 mole ratio is 5.5:lin the water,the temperature is kept in 80? adding H2SO4 slowly and stirring,keep the temperature for 4h,extraction filtration,clean with acetone in the Micro Cleaning Solution,remove 3BS and PbO sediment in surface residues,get 4BS grain the purity of 95%.Test the charging and discharging characteristics monomer and circle life of the battery adding 4BS finding that the battery charge and discharge properties adding 4BS is more than those without 4BS.Test volume of addition finding that 15%is the best additive amount,the charge and discharge properties and the cycle life is the best.
