With the world energy saving regulations and the increasingly stringent requirements of vehicle emissions, energy saving and emission reduction has become the main development direction of modern automobile technology. The introduction of exhaust gas recirculation technology can effectively reduce fuel consumption and reduce emissions, reduce the oxygen concentration and combustion temperature to suppress the generation of nitrogen oxides, has now become an effective technology to improve emissions.Based on the strict foreign emission regulations, study on technology of exhaust gas recirculation on abroad has obtained certain achievements. The domestic study on this technology is still not particularly deep.In this paper, through the analysis of different conditions of exhaust gas recirculation on fuel economy, power and emission of the base gasoline engine, exhaust gas recirculation performance and emissions impacts on different ratios of EGR engine under the influence of various loads carried out research, provide a reference for future use exhaust gas recirculation technology to reduce fuel consumption in gasoline engines and determine the optimum exhaust gas recirculation rate. This paper selects Aerospace Mitsubishi Motors 4A9 Engine which is a four-cylinder four-valve four-stroke gasoline engine as an experimental prototype, the installation of an external exhaust gas recirculation.According to the calibration of a naturally aspirated engine, the engine power was determined, and then calibrate the engine universal characteristics and external characteristics.Next add the low-pressure exhaust gas recirculation system and get the exhaust gas after the three-way catalyst.Through the addition of exhaust gas recirculation engine bench test calibration.Bench test results showed that:Certain exhaust gas recirculation rate can reduce the fuel consumption of the engine without affecting the performance of the engine, and the effect of the engine output torque is not obvious. The further influence of the effect of EGR on combustion engines were analyzed. Finally using BOOST simulation software build engine calculation models and calibrate the simulation model with the experimental data. And get the engine performance with different exhaust gas recirculation rate, and then come to more detailed fuel consumption and combustion performance changess.Suitable EGR can reduce fuel consumption of gasoline engine, but the introduction of the exhaust gas at low load is likely to cause miss fire, insufficient power at full load, exhaust gas recirculation main application areas are in engine low speed range. The research results have certain guiding significance for improving the gasoline engine performance and emissions.By introducing the exhaust gas recirculation at low speed can effectively reduce engine fuel consumption, fuel consumption level of the engine can be reduced by about 3%.By EGR engines can achieve energy savings and emission reductions through the rational control strategie.
