This article is a case study of the Italo-Brazilian architect Lina Bo Bardi(1914-1992).Her life experiences the depression of Italy in the era of war,the vigorous development of European modernism,the military dictatorship of Brazil.After Bo Bardi died in 1992,only by more and more attention,is considered one of the most important architects of the 20 th century.Bo Bardi's architectural trajectory is based on a number of public projects where she was actively involved,her architectural ideas have experienced several changes.When she arrived in Brazil,she was passionate about modernism and industrialization.In 1958,when she came to the northeastern part of Brazil,she had a great interest in the traditional folk culture and began to reflect on her modernism designs and tried to combine modern life with traditional cultural integration.In 1976,the renovation project Pompei leisure center give her a chance to think carefully about how to deal with architectural heritage and improve the quality of life of the public at the same time.The first chapter of the paper defines the object of study,clarifies the significance of research and research methods,and summarizes the main research results at home and abroad.The second chapter,by analyzing her teenage family atmosphere,college life in the Scuola di Architecture(Roman architecture school)and the influence of a series of living conditions of her,combing from the European architectural ideas and the Brazilian folk craft of the two lines of thought to clarify her academic sources.The third and fourth chapters,through the analysis of her theory and architectural works and the interpretation of her design ideas and techniques,reveals her interest on "diversity" and the traditional handicrafts of Brazil's poor inland areas.Chapter five,with comparing to her peers and introducing the background,explore the " Identity " of their great influence to Bo Bardi's thought.This paper deals with the interpretation of relevant concepts and historical events,as well as historical figures and schools that have had an important influence on contemporary architecture,such as Le Corbusier,Wright,Gaudi and Italian rationalism and so on,to understand their thought have the same significance with Bo Bardi's design ideas.Through research and analysis of the data,this paper traces back to the complex career of Lina Bo Bardi,interprets the ideological content of her works,and tries to sort out the ideological framework to promote her design.
