The Methods And Strategies Of Campus Cultural Symbols In Landscape Design

Campus cultural landscape design is a much neglected element in urban development.Even as culture is the soul of university,campus landscape is the carrier of such culture and symbol.The manifestations of campus culture include artifacts,greeneries,sculptures and architectures,bestowing relevant embience and meaning.Culture is also an important part of educating people,the realization of the function of environmental education in the campus can only be carried out by the campus cultural symbols.This thesis aims to explore the efficacy of campus cultural logos,symbols in the design of befitting environment for better education by both literature and field research.How to summarize the campus culture symbol,can be used in any campus culture as the theme of the landscape design and the application of literature,field research and other research methods,analysis of the expression of various cultural symbols of campus landscape.The thesis first summarizes basic conceptions regarding campus landscape,cultural logo,relations pertaining to the two and logo classifiction.Second,field trip analyzes landscapes of Qinhua University and Fudan University from the perspectives of history,culture and ethos,in particular the type,location and origin of the cultural logos thereof.Third,according to the on-the-spot investigation analysis summarized a set of symbols reflect the relatively complete theory of campus culture,including the design principle of campus culture symbol,reflects the space and the expression way,etc.The last,as a conclusion of the field research,a set of theorems embracing design,space and expressions are drawn supported by a case study of the Xixian Campus,which epitomizes the application of cultural logo elements in design,anticipating future theoretical and technical progress in campus theme construction.
