Miniature relays possess advantages of lower power consumption,high sensitivity,small size,and light weight,they have been widely used in national defense,electronic systems and aerospace electrical control system.In order to ensure the urgent need of the aerospace relays with high performance,high reliability,the processing and manufacturing about parts of miniature relays is becoming more difficulty gradually.Some problems as broken ribs,extrusion die cracking existed in the process of base of miniature relays before,this problem has affected highly efficient production of enterprises seriously.This paper takes the cold extrusion molding process technology optimization about base of TO-5 miniature relay as research object,first of all,according to the material properties and characteristics of dimensions of the parts,proposed improvement schemes about large deformation of 4J29 material,calculated the blank piece pattern dimension,the reduction of area of extrusion and cold extrusion force.Secondly,based on the commercial finite element software DEFORM-3D,simulated the whole cold extrusion forming process about the base of miniature relay,taking the phenomenons of deformation in the cold extrusion process as simulation breakthrough point,by a combined analysis method of the numerical simulation and experimental research,compared the different characteristics of stress and strain distribution,and the change of extrusion load in base cold extrusion process durding original production plan and the late twice extrusion improvement scheme,and then analyzed different material properties and friction coefficient on the result of extrusion.influence.Finally according to the results of finite element simulation and the twice extrusion scheme,it readjusts the base machining process,the new mold design was made,it adopted not sing layer cavity die but two layers combination cavity die structure with stronger strength.The application result showed that above method is significant,parts forming effect is good,without micro-rib fracture of failure,and the die life is also improved obviously.The research results in this paper have carried on the beneficial attempt to improve the precision of processing and manufacturing leve l,miniature relay parts during,the research results can be applied to others studies on cold extrusion forming technology of mechanical and elestuctrical elements.
