In long terms of time, lacking of water in both space and time is a huge problem for China all the time.Meanwhile, environment pollution and over-development make the problem even worse,so there is a lot of benefits in both industry and commercial for us to develop a sort of smart water monitoring network. The largest different in water pipe monitoring system between China's and Western's is that the traditional mechanical water meter is still used in many parts of China, and even in the smart water monitoring system built recently, there are still some problems, such as lacking of real-time communications, low information and so on.To solve these problems,it's vital to design a smart water monitoring system, which can collect, transmit and store data etc.In addition, the system can alarm when necessary. In the field of intelligent terminal,we use many sensors under the control of STM32 chip, especially in measuring the speed of water. We compare many kinds of sensors and decide to use ultrasonic flowmeters as the sensor.Various of data can be measured and displayed by the sensor. In the part of network communications,GPRS DTU is selected. It's cheap, stable, and easy to handle and attend, which plays an important role in the project. The software module of the system is developed on the platform of LabVIEW.It has the function of storing, displaying and alarming which is transmitted from all kind of sensors in intelligent terminal.Besides, line graph, data and comparison report can be made by the software. All these above has a positive impact on operating stuff in command center. Finally, experiments are made to test the measurement performance of the system, the stability and accuracy demand are both achieved.
