More and more types of transverse thruster devices appear on all kinds of ships, but most of the existing devices have destroyed the original line of the ship that increased the resistance to affecting the speed and economy of the ship. Therefore, reducing the influence of transverse thruster device on the ship's resistance has become a common vision of the majority of scholars and designers.Based on a large amount of reading and summarizing the present research situation, this paper combines the existing research methods and research results, using SolidWorks,FINE/Marine and AQWA software and the method of numerical simulation, calculated and comparative study several of the existing kinds of bow thruster devices, and puts forward a design presented in the form of a new bow thruster cover. The specific research contents are as follows:1.Choosing a 54000 DWT bulk carrier as the research object, using SolidWorks software to establish the 3D model, adding kinds of bow thruster devices and the different channel opening resistance reduction devices,by use of numerical simulation software FINE/Marine,the research model in the condition of the resistance and flow distribution, provides the theoretical basis and guidance direction for new bow thruster resistance reduction device.2.According to the previous research results, the advantages and disadvantages of the existing drag reduction devices, designed a new type of bow thruster covers, and by the shape and thickness of the protective effects on the resistance, the design can be optimized.3.The resistance performance of the hull under different working conditions is calculated and compared with the existing resistance reduction devices to test whether they meet the design requirements and objectives. And explore its effect on the hydrodynamic performance of the hull.
