The lateral thrust covers in the Marine scientific research ship is the mostimportant part in the Thruster closure system which is installed at both ends of themarine scientific research ship in order to solve the problem of water noise.Thecharacteristic of the sealing system: the height of the sealing position relative to thewaterline changed frequently which makes the contact pressure of the sealing ring andthe shaft changed; the shaft was deviated from the center of the circle which wascaused by the jointing morph of the clsuer system; Also affected by coastal impactvibration of the cover plate and the thruster system work. Therefore the combinationof various factors to consider its impact on the performance of the sealing system isimportant.The problem that sea water noise inside the lateral thrust cylinder is solvedby lateral thrust covers. So that the research of lateral thrust covers is provided with aspecial significance.In this article, the skeleton spring ring was designed aimed to the feature of thethruster closure system, and analyzed by the ANSYS. Thruster cover sealing systemwas designed to carry out the seal test. The Main work are as follows:1、According side push capping sealing characteristics, design a skeleton with aspring ring and derive different eccentric ring the perimeter of the radial force on thesmallest unit formula obtained eccentric as0.2mm,0.6mm,0.8mm,1.0mm thesmallest unit of the circumference of the radial force;2、The Solution modeling of Rubber seals are constructed by ANSYS software,including the grid division, solution model, boundary conditions, solving parametersand so on to found axis eccentric, seals the contact pressure with the shaft and thewidth of contact, and further to obtain a unit of the perimeter radial force; alsosimulated axis eccentric deformation waist perimeter seal units radial force impact;3、Thruster cover sealing system was designed to carry out the seal test. Theresult shows that the offset of the shaft should be controlled at1.0mm. when the offsetis greater than1.35mm, seal failure; when theoffsetis less than1.0mm, the surfaceroughness of the shaft does ont affect the seal performance, when theoffsetexceeds1.0mm, the surface roughness of shaft smaller, the sealing performance better; The biggest offset of the thruster cover shaft is1.0mm according to thetheoretical analysis, simulation results and experimental data. The unit perimeter ofthe radial force is greater than or equal to0.1N/mm when the offset is less than0.6mm.The results provide a reference to the design of the Thruster shaft seal in the Marinescientific research ship.
