Ancient and modern,rivers and lakes,lakeshore,the coast to become the preferred location of urban addressing,numerous ancient city are in the river to develop in the river,water and rivers carrying the history of the city culture and construction history.In urban development with waterfront,urban and waterfront are interdependent and symbiotic relationships.It is a transition between land and water,rich in habitat,diverse species and ecologically sensitive.With the gradual enhancement of urbanization in China along with theswift improvement of materialism and sprit,people are capable of gradually recognizing the core values of waterfront.Nevertheless the traditional means of hardening project are barely capable of handling the issues,it is better toconform to the criteria of ecological priority as well as restoration of river ecosystem circulation,thusaccomplishing the sustainable progression of waterfront space.With the aim of propelling the construction of “sponge city",it is the definiteworld trendregarding ecological restoration for water front landscape.This paperinitiates from the viewpoint on ecological restoration along with current situation of our urban waterfront landscape.And it is also referred with the triumphexamples of ecological restoration in homeland and abroad as wellasengages in the research upon the first proposed ecological territorydesignated as "Chanba Ecological District" located in northwest.In terms of the appraisal and investigation on its ecological dispositions and landscape effectiveness,this paper finds that the issues compose of poor quality of water,simple categories of ecological environment as well as the hardening problems for waterfront,etc exert the negative influence on the integrated landscape effectiveness for “Chanba Ecological District”,thus leading the waterfront open spaces into the sapping state and unable to meet the needs of tourism as well as incapable of fulfilling the sustainable goal for “Chanba Ecological District”.In the light of the issues mentioned above and the backdrop of Northeast territories as well as the guidances of ecological and ecological restoration theories,we propose the waterfront landscapepriority policiesfor “Chanba Ecological District”based on ecological restoration perspective and the positive circulation of ecological system resting on artificial restoration,thereby fulfilling the urban waterfront space landscape with the aims of multifunctional,sustainable and low maintenance.
