The highway tunnel is regarded as the bottleneck of highway road network,it has monotonous environmental,closed space,low brightness characteristics,the special driving environment is easy to cause the change of the driver's eye movement characteristics,which affects the acquisition of different road traffic information and the decision-making,which leads to the occurrence of traffic accidents.Therefore,it is very important to study the characteristics of driver's eye movement in tunnel environment.Based on the analysis of the environmental characteristics of the expressway tunnel and the theory of the driver's eye movement,the basic form of the eye movement was studied,and selected the blink frequency,the average blink duration,the blink time percentage,the average fixation number,the average fixation duration,the fixation time percentage and the size of the pupil area as the characterization parameters of the driver's eye movement characteristics.Designed and conducted the real vehicle road tunnel experiments,using eye tracker to record driver's eye movement parameters,then analyzed the driver's eye movement features during driving in the general road section and short,medium,long tunnel sections.And used the parameter test method to analyze the diversity of driver 's eye movement parameters in different tunnel sections.The results showed that: In the tunnel section,the driver's blink frequency and blink time percentage increase with the tunnel length increases,there was a significant difference between the blink frequency and the blink time percentage in different tunnel sections;The average fixation duration in the general road section is less than in the tunnel section,and increases with the tunnel length increases,but the difference is not significant;At the entrance and exit of different tunnels,the change trend of pupil area is same,the pupil area becomes larger rapidly in the entrance section and decreases rapidly in the exit section.The average pupil area increases with the tunnel length increases;Compared with the front and behind 200 m segments of the tunnel entrance,the average fixation number decreases and the average fixation duration increases;Taking the 85% point of pupil area changeable degree as the threshold value,and making it to evaluate the driver's visual load suitability,it turned out that the driver's visual load suitability was bad at 10-20 m of the tunnel entrance and at the end of the transitional lighting.
