Aided by parametric technology and powerful computing capability of computer,complex form buildings have developed rapidly.Compared with normal formed buildings,non-linear and non-standardized buildings have much more complex requirements to the designers,both in the design and construction stage.Professor Shao Weiping,Beijing Institute of Architectural Design,proposed a theory--"geometric control system",which is trying to make the complex form buildings' design more efficient and precisely controlled.The research in China is still in its infancy.This design study is the application of "geometric control system".By constructing the system of Lize SOHO project,designer tries to confirm its effectiveness during construction design.The system describes all the information and data which is relevant to geometric definition systematically.And these geometric information processed has the ability to aid construction,then architects can control the whole design process precisely,including deep design,processing and installation.Firstly,author introduces the classic geometry plays an important role in traditional architecture,so do the advanced geometry in the complex form buildings.That tells us "geometric control system" is necessary in architecture.Then,according to the division of architectural system,in three to five chapters the author analyzes the generation of basic control plane,structure systems and surface system.Finally,the author will introduce her own design,which follows the general generation logic and geometric control system.Geometry has always played an important role in the field of architecture.Many architectural projects and theoretical systems of complex form buildings are inseparable from the geometry as a prototype or assistance.When it comes to deepening design requirements,the importance of geometry precise control becomes more apparent.According to the building systems,geometry control system can be divided into three parts: basic control plane,structure system and surface system,so the main part of the paper has studied these three parts in three chapters.Chapter Third is about basic control plane,and the study includes the classification of architectural form generationmethod,architectural significance of the geometric symbols points,lines,surfaces,several common basic control plane and their geometric properties and relationships.Chapter Fourth is about structure system,including the forms of complex building structures,their influencing factors and architectural significance of the geometric symbols in structure system.Chapter fifth is about surface system,including the forms of surface and geometric symbols' significance as well,and also has introduced several representative methods of building surface generation and optimization.In the paper,Lize SOHO's geometric control design is the practice of Geometric Control System method,with a view to achieving architectural form precise control.The design results distribute in the three main chapters.Finally,in compliance with the building generation logic,author has designed the main part of Lize SOHO's glass curtain wall,according to her understanding to the geometric control system.
