A Research On Construction Of Architectural Complex-form Based On Parametric Design Method

In the21st century, with the great development of computer processing capacity,the digital technology has been widely used in the architectural design and it hassignificantly impact on every single stage of the chain, from plan to design and frombuilding to maintenance. Parametric Design, who has a prominent digital stamp hasbeen accepted gradually by designer and producer, and becoming a main method whendealing with Architectural Complex-form projects.Complex-form architecture sourced from complexity science theory and traditionaldesign methods cannot satisfy its design and production needs, because of thenon-linear and irregular shape surface, which breaks the basic form of the Euclideangeometry. Parametric Design Method, on the other hand, can transfer all complicatedrestrictions into parameters and control the parametric model by pre-designed rules,which is the effective method when doing the Architectural Complex-form design.The spread of the theory of the Parametric Design Method has received somepositive effects domestically, which makes it necessary to set up some trial projects totest the theoretical results and induce valuable operating experience to form the basis fora better utilizing Parametric Design Method. The thesis bases on a real project theauthor is experiencing with a Architectural Complex-form trait. First of all, somecompleted projects with complex-form architecture from domestic and overseas havebeen chosen, and those successful experience in applying the Parametric Design Methodare collected and summarized, which worked as the theoretical preparation forimplementing the project. And then, the thesis focuses on how to apply the ParametricDesign Method in an Architectural Complex-form projects throughout the whole designprocess, discusses and analyzes the adaptability of the Parametric Design inArchitectural Complex-form design, and summarizes the problems and pros and conswhen applying the method in the real engineering. The thesis also analyzes somemisunderstanding of the Parametric Design and the reasons why popularizing theParametric Design Method is difficult in domestic construction industry, based on thecurrent applying situation of Parametric Design. Some problems concerning thegeneralizing of this method have also been point out, analyzed from the acceptanceinvestigation of the architectural design professionals and common people about the Parametric Design results.At the end of the thesis, the author appeals to rationally think the ParametricDesign Method from a practitioner point of view, scientifically and reasonably utilizesthe tech, and anticipates multifaceted application and demands.
