With the rapid development of Chinese economy as well as the outstanding achievements of urbanization,fire accidents had a tendency to rise and diversification.This made the risk of fire fighting increased significantly and more difficult;at the same time people's lives and property losses also had a trend of increase significantly,small water gun can't adapt the requirements of fire fighting.To achieve high efficiency and fast extinguishing effect,ensure the security of people's lives and property and further improve the existing fire ability,large power and high flow fixed fire water monitors are urgently needed to be researched and development.Fixed fire water monitors are the indispensable important component of fire control work and have a decisive role in the field of fire protection whose performance quality directly relates to quality of fire fighting to be success or failure.According to the design,production,promotion and application problems of fixed fire water monitors,it is necessary to study the jet property and similarity analysis of barrel of fire water monitors.Firstly,the paper introduced the research background and practical significance,summarized the present situation of the design and application at home and abroad as well as the types and characteristics of fire water monitor.Then the main research contents and research methods,technical route and difficulties were put forward;a kind of fixed fire water monitor was designed,including the main components such as barrel,nozzle and transmission mechanism design;the fluid mechanics and CFD research methods were summarized;the jet property simulation results of barrel were analyzed for barrel's performance verification and optimization,preparing for preliminary similarity analysis of barrel.Barrel similarity of fixed fire water monitor was designed for numerical simulation.The paper mainly introduced the similarity theory of fluid mechanics and its application in fluid mechanics,and put forward the main problems,the influence factors,related software and similarity analysis with its guiding significance;barrel similarity design and numerical simulation was based on related theories,and the error analysis were based on the results.The simulation results approximately agree with the theoretical calculations with a little error.Results show that the similarity design method for the design of U-shaped barrel of fixed fire water monitor is feasible and reliable which can provide some guidance for the design research and development of fixed fire water monitor.
