With the rapid development of technology and increasing demand of modern transportation, immersed tunnel has become a main kind of tunneling method of crossing channels and rivers.Because of its extreme importance, seismic resistance of immersed tunnel attracts attention of scholars and engineers all around the world. However, though amounts of publications have focused on the seismic response of immersed tunnel both experimentally and numerically, few took the influence of water into consideration. In this thesis,an experimental research on the seismic response of immersed tunnel has been conducted, based on series of shaking table tests, while water effect was mainly concerned. In the experiment: a rigid container was designed and made up;similitude ratios were calculated based on the theory of similitude;segmental models were designed and fabricated in accordance of engineering prototype and simplification;experimental arrangement was made concerning boundary conditions and data collection.Post-processing of the data included wave filtering and FFT,while test results were analyzed both in time domain and frequency domain. Results show that: characteristics of input waves have larger influence on transverse seismic responses of immersed tunnel than longitudinal ones;in the case of experiment and corresponding prototype project, segmental seismic responses are almost linear;under transverse input waves, transverse responses of immersed tunnel are more sensitive to water effect than longitudinal responses.
