Shaking table test for small structures is an important means for studying the dynamic behavior of various structures. Because of limited testing facilities and economic reasons, small-scale models have been frequently used in shaking table test. Because the similitude law for the prototype and model is extremely strict, in actual fact it is hard to realize all the similitude relations in experiment and also brings in great challenges. This paper mainly discussed three factors affected on the prototype and models. The first was to study on the different balance weight affecting on the models and compare the dynamic characteristics between the models and prototype. The second was to study on the different reinforcement similitude relations and compare the dynamic characteristics between the models and prototype. The third was to study on the different material characteristics affected on the prototype and models. To study the differences, the results under various working conditions ware calculated based on the FEM software ABAQUS and compared the dynamic characteristics, mainly concluding the self-vibration characteristics, the time-history displacement curve and it's max, the time-history acceleration curve and it's max, shear weight ratio, internal forces of members, plastic characteristics and so on.When comparing the models of different balance weight, the calculation came out that the models lack of balance weight could fully simulate the prototype in the horizontal direction but truly distorted in the vertical direction. To study the different reinforcement similitude relations affected on the models, this paper deduced two similitude relations by dimensional analysis combined with equation method and compared the dynamic characteristics to choose the better. When comparing the different material behavior affected on the models, mainly considered the ultimate strain ratio wasn't equal to one and compared the dynamic characteristics and finally came to some conclusions.
