Hose-drogue release and retraction is an important factor affecting the safety of aerial refueling.In engineering application,the hose-drogue would swing wildly without controlling the velocity of release and retraction.The hose-drogue tunnel test or flutter test has limitations in the safety of tanker,length of hose etc.But the numerical simulation can solve the problems effective.So a hose-drogue dynamic model was presented in this paper.And the hose-drogue motion characteristics were researched by the dynamic model.The main contents are summarized as follows:(1)The tanker-hose-drogue's multi-body dynamic model was modeled.The hose-drogue release and retraction were simulated without considering the tanker wake by the dynamics software ADAMS.Then the trajectory,velocity,attitude and stability of the hose and drogue were analyzed.(2)The hose-drogue's dynamic model combining a series of ball and socket connected rigid links model and spring-damping model was modeled.Then the effects of attack angle,velocity,altitude and tanker wake on the hose-drogue motion characteristics were researched.The hose-drogue release and retraction in the uniform velocity flow and tanker wake were simulated,and the hose and drogue trajectory and stability were analyzed.The research method proposed and the analysis results acquired in the work have great value on the motion characteristics of hose-drogue and the computer-aided design of aerial refueling system.The dynamic model combining the tanker wake and the elasticity of hose has positive value on the numerical simulation of hose-drogue release and retraction dynamics.
