The concept of redundancy is critically important to structural engineering.It provides confidence in the safety of designs and safeguards to prevent collapse from deterioration or damage.The redundancy theory now has been widely used in superstructure design,such as Nation Stadium of China and Guangzhou Tower.However,the redundancy theory has not any research in the area of bridge engineering.The lack of a clear and quantifiable definition of redundancy in bridge design and evaluation standards illustrates just how misunderstood the concept is in current practice.Based at the typical multi-beam simply supported beam bridge system,this paper aims to establish the bridge redundancy evaluation model,explore the state estimation which can consider the bearing redundancy and studies the quantitative evaluation of bridge redundancy.Based on the concept of existing norms,this paper extends the definition of the ultimate state and reliability of component to system,clarifies the mechanism of force transfer and influence of bending load-bearing failure process of simply supported beam system,specifies the relationship between traditional calculation model and limit analysis of bearing capacity of the system,develop the redundancy index of the system.Secondly,based on two T-beam failure test engineering and numerical analysis data,this paper introduces the identification technology of bending load-bearing redundancy of the system,forms a quantitative analysis model of bending load-bearing.Finally through the numerical simulation,this paper establishes the redundancy database of typical multi-beam PC simple beam bridge for the latest version of the Ministry of Communications and analyses the influence of main factors of the redundancy of simply supported bridge,which can be used for engineering inquiry.The research results of this paper will provide new ideas and new methods for security the quantitative evaluation of the redundancy of the typical muti-beam simply supported beam bridge system and provide a reliable measure for system redundancy release and utilization during assessment and reinforcement.
