Bridge, the important hub of the transportation lifeline system, has an extremely important position in the economic development and people's life. If the earthquake in the event of damage, it is not only the bridge structure itself cause damage, because of its role in guiding the traffic failure, and will give a huge obstacle to the earthquake relief work, so t he bridge relief plays a pivotal role in the earthquake. Therefore, it is of great significance to do a good job in the seismic design of the bridge, especially the strong earthquake action, which can keep the normal use function and avoid failure. In this paper, the failure mode and its control of a simple supported box girder bridge under earthquake action are carried out based on the general Midas Civil finite element software. The specific content of this paper is divided into the following aspects:First, using Midas C ivil finite element software to establish the three-dimensional finite element model of the whole bridge with eleven piers and ten spans;Second, the failure criterion of bridge under the condition of isolation and non isolation is proposed, and the nonlinear time history analysis is carried out with four artificial waves and three natural waves;Third, according to the failure conditions of the bridge and the non isolated state, the failure sequence of the bridge is determined by the met hod of weighted statistics;Fourth, according to the hysteretic curves of the average displacement and shear force of the bridge under the condition of the isolated state, the ultimate displacement of the bridge under the condition of large earthquakes is suggested, in order to ensure the normal use of the bridge under strong earthquake action.
