With the rapid development of the highway construction,road maintenance and management is becoming more and more important.In order to detect pavement cracks accurately and completely,the three-dimensional(3D)pavement crack detection algorithm based on two-dimensional(2D)empirical mode decomposition is proposed by analyzing of pavement crack detection algorithm at home and abroad in the paper.According to the data characteristics of three-dimensional pavement cracks,a algorithm of the three-dimensional pavement crack detection based on two-dimensional empirical mode decomposition is proposed.It can decompose pavement crack data into basic functions called intrinsic mode functions.The algorithm is mainly a sifting process compared with other methods in recent years,it does not need to set parameters.It can be completely determined by itself of the pavement crack data,and it can automatically detect pavement cracks.First,a filtering algorithm was used to eliminate noise and enhance three-dimensional pavement cracks in this paper,which was a filtering algorithm based on curve fitting.Then,the main cracks were extracted by using EMD method after a denoising process,as is the IMF information of sifting.Subsequently,the extracted crack data was binarized.Then it were analyzed the data of pavement crack height of sifting IMF and binary image.This paper presents a novel method that the cracks can be directly extracted in the pavement,which are added as the results of the EMD algorithm processed.Finally,the pavement cracks were extractedaccurately by combining the method of region growing with morphology on a binary image.The three-dimensional pavement detection algorithm based on two-dimensional EMD is used in the paper,the evaluation of 3D transverse,longitudinal,alligator crack by a lot of experiments.The algorithm can automatic detection of pavement cracks,and it has good stability and high accuracy for pavement crack identification.It has some advantages of detecting 3D pavement crack,and it plays an important role for pavement maintenance.
