Research On The Application Of Waste Foundry Sand In Asphalt Mixture

Waste foundry sand is a granular refractory material used in the casting industry.In this paper,from the perspective of comprehensive utilization of industrial waste,reducing the impact of waste sand piling up on the environment,using waste foundry sand to replace all or part of limestone filler or fine aggregate in asphalt mixture.To investigate whether the road performance of the hybrid material can meet the standard requirements.The main purpose of this paper is to provide new ideas and directions for the rational utilization of waste foundry sand.In this paper,the physical and chemical properties of sand waste foundry sand are studied.The paper is based on the research of the physical and chemical properties of waste foundry sand which are commonly meet in Cangzhou,such as the mineral composition,particle size,water absorption rate,mud content and so on.Experimental study on the feasibility of using the waste foundry sand as a filler or fine aggregate in asphalt mixture.In this paper,asphalt mixture is used as the research object and different mixture ratio of the foundry sand is used in asphalt mixture to determine mix proportion design of asphalt mixture and the optimum asphalt content,and study the influence of waste sand content on the amount of oil.Marshall stability test,rutting test,bending test and freeze-thaw splitting test of asphalt mixture were carried out according the best amount asphalt.And the experimental results of mixture with foundry sand and natural aggregate in the same conditions are compared.The influence of waste foundry sand on the high and low temperature stability and water stability of asphalt mixture is studied.Through the analysis of the experimental results,author believes that,compared with the use of natural mineral asphalt mixture,foundry sand asphalt mixture has better high temperature stability,but low temperature cracking resistance and water stability is poor.When the proportion of waste foundry sand replacement filling is lower than 75%,the ratio of the mixture is lower than 15%,the performance index of the mixed material can meet the standard requirements.Therefore,waste foundry sand using in the reasonable range will not have a big impact on the road performance of the mixture.
