Research On Aging Residential Environment Design Based On Female Perspective

In the design of residential suitable environment for elderly,the difference of gender space has become a problem that people has been neglecting.Designers usually only consider the characteristics of adaptive residential users such as general physiological,psychological and behavioral needs,which more likely to be in an asexual,standard way which "old man" as the user to be considered in space design and universal design.Yet the ignorance of the spatial demand space has existed,as well as females different needs,has caused a significant amount of space problems and dehumanization in design.According to the summary of elder female’s perspective on the living environment,based on background,research object,research significance,research methods which was summarized from basic characteristics of elderly women’s physiological,psychological and behavioral patterns and social roles,investigation of three residential area the city Xuzhou,through interviews,questionnaires,behavior record,cognitive map research methods for elderly women living environment,outdoor activities in the scope,activity time,activity content in different types of outdoor space and outdoor facilities and safety requirements,public service facilities has required for an on-the-spot investigation,analysis of conditions for living environment of the elderly women.Research has generated based on four aspects: interior space,traffic space,and outdoor space and public service facilities,based on the principle of safety,convenience,comfort.The author proposed following design strategies with the elderly women living environment suitable:(1)Elderly women bear the responsibility to take care of their families and meals in daily life,as well as the daily activities of the family unit,the residential interior cabinets,bathroom and common stove,barrier free facilities should be consistent with their physical scale.(2)the elderly women have a weak sense of direction and poor ability of spatial recognition,therefore the design should strengthen on the traits of the internal identity system in the residential area,and be equipped a harmonious,rich,strong,practical,practical lighting,color,logo and sketch.(3)Elderly women always need convenient,safe and beautiful space.Multi-functional,complex,easy communication space,easy and suitable old recreation facilities would be ideal.(4)The allocation of public facilities should be consistent with the characteristics of the elderly women’s daily behavior,in order to improve the public service,better functions and easier accessibility.The ultimate goal of this paper is to state a subtraction that is applicable to elderly women living space,as well as in the space environment with pure feminine face.To fulfill older women’s demand,hoping to provide a new perspective for the design of appropriate aging living environment,filling the shortage of the research design,improving and perfecting multi-level needs of residents,and eventually to create a comfortable and diverse living environment.
