It is well known that the shear wall structure system has been widely used in high-rise buildings due to its good performance to resist horizontal and vertical forces.Currently, the seismic performance of cylinder or box cylinder structure research has attached sufficient attentions, while that of super-high-rise shear-wall residential structures with special functional requirements are rarely studied. To bridge this knowledge gap, this thesis takes a practical super-high-rise shear-wall residential building as the study case to examine the seismic performance. The case-study structure has the following characteristics: 1)the building height reaches 166.85 m;2)the building plane is wide and flat with large height-width ratio;3)the bottom strengthening area has the transformation column causing the discontinuous vertical stiffness;and 4)the long side of the structure is the large area window hole, thus the resistance of lateral force is relatively low.The above characteristics of the structure make this structure beyond the design limit in the current national design codes. Therefore,it is necessary to conduct seismic performance assessment for this structure. The main contents of this thesis include:1.The beyond-limit situations in this structure are comprehensively examined, and the corresponding risk to structure safety is also investigated.A seismic performance-based indicator is presented by considering the roles of all structural elements to resist seismic actions.2.Two kinds of structure design software are used to performance response spectra analysis for structures with regards to the elastic state under minor earthquakes, elastic and unyielding state under moderate earthquakes, and unyielding state under major earthquakes. The structural responses due to minor, moderate and major earthquakes are also obtained.Moreover,time-history response analyses are conducted for the structure subjected to minor earthquakes. Then the strengthen strategies are provided based on the analysis results.3.The frame-shear wall structural model is established by using a gap-divided method. The structure on the direction of a short limb shear wall structure model is equivalent analyzed separately. The short limb shear wall is simplified to a column-wall model using rigid rod connections between column and wall, and the envelope analyses are performed based on the analyses data for the shear-wall structure system.4.Seismic collapse resistances of the structure at different directions are investigated by the development of plastic-hinges.Moreover,the damage states and the structural global index are evaluated for the shear-walls and the connection beam of the structure. The weakest location of the structure is identified and the corresponding strength strategies are provided to ensure the safety of the structure against occurrence of collapse. The above study shows a comprehensive research on the responses and the damages of a super-high-rise shear wall building subjected to the earthquake actions based on the finite element simulation is done. This study is valuable to search for the weak location of the structure, provide useful information for the following strength measures and improvement of structural seismic performance. The method used in this study will provide reference significance for the following research on the seismic performance evaluation of super-high shear-wall structures.
