Group Architecture Creativity is in the ascendant in contemporary China and has become a topic with rich architectural significance.The cases of Group Architecture Creativity and the related discussion emerge continuously around the globe.It’s generally believed that Group Architecture Creativity originate from the 1927 Weissenhof Housing Exhibition organized by Destscher Werkbund.The emergence of this case is not accidental.There is relatively long period of development and complex evolutionary mechanisms behind.The thesis traces the origin of Group Architecture Creativity.Based on the division of timeline,this study focuses on architecture history from British Arts and Crafts Movement in 1850 s to 1927 Weissenhof Housing Exhibition and tries to discover and organize the related facts in the historical context that support the advent of Group Architecture Creativity,trying to delineate a relatively complete formation process of modern Group Architecture Creativity from its initial development to maturity.According to different organizational modes,major operational targets,the duration of time and the supporting forces behind,the historical facts closely related to the emergence of Group Architecture Creativity are then classified into four patterns – the commercial oriented groups,the public oriented groups,the academic groups and the eventful groups and the thesis expounds the important examples in each of these four categories.Through the investigation of historical facts,the thesis concludes a few general trends in this process.By analyzing the influence of Group Architecture Creativity on architectural,social and commercial fields,the thesis puts forward critical thinking on contemporary Chinese Group Architecture Creativity and aims to provide heuristic ideas for its future development.
